United Communities Network (UCN) was formed in September 2012 as a not for profit charity/ community group. It was formed by a group of ambitious and hard-working individuals who have the drive to carry out voluntary community work for the community. The members of United Communities Network aim to help make communities in Nottingham stronger by carrying out a range of different projects to meet the needs of a diverse range of people.

 

The organisations main aims focus on community development and striving to build a stronger community by providing various opportunities for the disadvantaged members of the community to reduce the impact of isolation so they are able to integrate with the wider community.

 

 UCN focus on providing various diversionary activities for BAME communities to help them gain the skills and experiences to progress and have better chances in life. In addition to this UCN also provide a wide range of tailored support to suit individual needs, they get a wide range of support and take part in various strategically set programs, for example:

 

• Being supported to apply for education and training courses and jobs, such as through practice interviews and application writing.

• Participation in projects focusing on a range of activities, such as skills training and improving literacy, numeracy and basic IT skills.

• Intensive mentoring and personal support on areas such as personal finance, health and well-being, to help participants build their motivation and confidence.

• Sessions where inspirational personnel deliver motivational sessions with groups of people.

 

The projects carried out over the last several years have been very successful and have contributed towards providing opportunities for people in the local community, by having a lasting impact and equipping them with the skills and experiences to help them with integrating with the community, thus  developing and creating better chances in life.
